The Sindh Food Authority (SFA) was established under the Sindh Food Authority Act, 2017, with the objective of regulating food safety and quality standards across the province of Sindh, Pakistan. The creation of SFA marked a significant milestone in ensuring public health and food security by addressing the growing concerns related to foodborne illnesses, adulteration, and the quality of food products.
- Formation and Mandate: The SFA was formally constituted to ensure the availability of safe and hygienic food for the public. It was tasked with implementing food safety regulations, conducting inspections, and creating awareness about food hygiene among stakeholders, including food business operators and consumers.
- Regulatory Framework: The authority developed and enforced food safety standards aligned with national and international guidelines. This included monitoring the production, storage, distribution, and sale of food items to prevent adulteration and contamination.
